NUS President Prof Tan Chorh Chuan is attending the 41st Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, from 26 to 30 January 2011.

Prof Tan is facilitating two sessions, "IdeasLab with Swiss Universities: Improving the Future of Mobility" and "The Rise of Robo Sapiens". He is a panelist in the discussion session on "The Science We Need". Prof Tan is also participating in the Winter Meeting of the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF).

Also at Davos is Prof Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Prof Mahbubani is moderating a session on "Insights on East Asia" and is a panelist in the discussion session on "Asia's Fault Lines".

The WEF annual meeting is a gathering of global leaders from industry, government, academia, civil society and the media at the start of each year to discuss the most pressing and important world issues and possible solutions for them. GULF, initiated by WEF in 2006, is a global community of university leaders which includes 25 heads of universities from nine countries. The GULF membership criteria reflect ranking, strategic importance of the university for the WEF, geographical distribution and personality, and contribution of the leader of the university to the community.
