NEW MASTER'S PROGRAMME IN ISE: Prof Tang Loon Ching introducing the programme

Singapore's first ever Executive Master in Systems Engineering and Management was launched on 1 February 2011 at the NUS Faculty of Engineering.

Speaking at the NUS Leaders in Systems Engineering Seminar organised annually by the Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE), Head of Department Prof Tang Loon Ching said the Programme is tailored for mid-career senior engineers and managers to manage system complexity through systems thinking and design. While current Master's programmes in ISE focus on methodologies and upgrading of engineering skill sets, the new ExecMaster programme aims to develop thought leaders in systems engineering.

"Managing complexity is always a challenge for senior management. This is evident from the IBM Global CEO 2010 study in which many CEOs doubt their ability to manage complexity. Through strategic systems thinking and design, one will be more at ease in managing complexities and be able to leverage on opportunities emerging from the unchartered horizon. Our ExecMaster programme will be delivered through case studies allowing working professionals to apply systems thinking to illuminate issues and provide clarity for decision making," said Prof Tang.

The ExecMaster programme has started to accept applications and will see its first intake of students in May 2011. Full details of the programme can be found here.
