Key NUS appointments in health and medicine

NUS announced today three senior appointments in health affairs and academic medicine. National University Health System (NUHS) Chief Executive Assoc Prof Benjamin Ong will be appointed as Senior Vice President (Health Affairs) at NUS with effect from 1 July 2011. Dean of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (YLLSoM) and Isabel Chan Professor in Medical Sciences John Wong Eu Li, who is also Deputy Chief Executive of NUHS, will step down as Dean of YLLSoM and take up a new appointment as Vice Provost (Academic Medicine) from 1 November 2011. To succeed Prof John Wong as the new Dean of Medicine is Assoc Prof Yeoh Khay Guan, a renowned expert in gastric and colorectal cancer and Vice Dean (Academic Affairs) at YLLSoM.

The new NUS appointments will further enhance the synergies between NUS and NUHS as the two institutions work together to build powerful synergies between medical and dental education, research and clinical practice, said NUS President Prof Tan Chorh Chuan.
