MEETING AMONG WOMEN LEADERS: Ms Ekman (far right)with attendees of the Forum

The NUS Women's Leadership Forum held its second lunchtime talk for a distinguished female audience, comprising influential business leaders and academics, on 21 June 2011. The event was hosted by Capella Singapore in Sentosa and chaired by Mdm Kay Kuok, a member of the NUS Board of Trustees and Executive Chairman of Shangri-La Hotel.

The Guest Speaker was Ms Eve Ekman, author of Mothers on the Fast Track, a guide for young women contemplating when and if to start a family. At the event, Ms Ekman related the findings of her research, which examines the corporate and public policies that can assist or impede women's decisions to stay on the fast track.

She explored the challenges facing women juggling the commitments of career and family, and the factors affecting their ability to realise their full potential at work and at home. She also shared the key lessons she had learnt from her research on how to balance motherhood and a career.

Launched early this year, the NUS Women's Leadership Series is designed to celebrate, encourage and challenge women to embrace their full leadership potential and to facilitate intellectual exchange between female leaders, distinguished professors, talented students and invited speakers.
