Alberta Minister of Education visits

Alberta Minister of Education Honourable Dave Hancock called on NUS today to gain insights into the NUS educational system. Accompanying Mr Hancock on this visit are Mr Spence Nichol, Strategic Policy Advisor from the Office of the Minister, Education, Alberta, Canada, and Ms Fumiko Kitano, Second Secretary(Commercial) and Trade Commissioner at the High Commission of Canada to Singapore.

During the visit, the team from Canada met with NUS President Prof Tan Chorh Chuan, Deputy President (Academic Affairs) Prof Tan Eng Chye, Deputy President (Research and Technology) Prof Barry Halliwell and Director of International Relations Office, Assoc Prof Anne Pakir.

Mr Hancock was in Singapore as part of the inaugural International Education Roundtable held jointly by the Singapore Ministry of Education and McKinsey & Company. The roundtable, which was held from 6 - 8 July, looked into how education systems could continuously improve so as to better equip students for the future. Other ministers and senior government officials hailing from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Sweden and the United States also attended the roundtable.
