Prof Peter Little appointed Director of Life Sciences Institute

With effect from 1 July 2009, Prof Peter Little has taken the helm of the Life Sciences Institute (LSI) from Prof Ong Choon Nam as its Director.
On his new appointment, Prof Little said: "I am confident that we will grow in line with the NUS mission and goals towards providing quality education, engaging in high-impact research, and promoting entrepreneurship and industry collaboration." Prof Little is also Research Director, Office of the Deputy President (Research and Technology).
Former LSI Director Prof Ong Choon Nam was LSI's Deputy Director before becoming the Institute's Director. He will be moving on to lead another NUS Research Institute.
Established in 2001, the LSI aims to develop the University into a world-class research and education hub in the field of the life sciences. In order to achieve this, the LSI coordinates, integrates and facilitates life sciences research throughout NUS and affiliated institutions. Cooperating with the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science as well as the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and School of Computing, the LSI has initiated and is overseeing 13 research programmes which plan to tackle some of the major diseases relevant to Singapore. Some 200 Principal Investigators are currently involved the research programmes.
