Shanghai Jiao Tong University leaders at NUS for training programme

NUS hosted a 40-strong delegation comprising the Deputy President, deans, directors and other academic and administrative leaders from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), from 18 to 20 July 2012. The Chinese team, here for a "Leadership in University Management" training programme, was led by Professor Ma Dexiu, Party Secretary and University Council Chairperson of SJTU.

During the three-day programme, the visitors participated in training sessions offered by many NUS leaders, including University President Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, Provost and Deputy President (Academic Affairs) Professor Tan Eng Chye, Vice Provost (Education) Professor Tan Thiam Soon, and deans and directors of various NUS faculties, schools and offices.

The topics discussed included global talent management; faculty appointment, development and retention; opportunities and challenges facing Asian higher education; universities as engines of economic growth; research benchmarking; internationalisation strategies; as well as future trends of university education.

This training programme proposed by SJTU was organised by the Executive Education team from NUS Business School.
