Some 6,000 NUS students pounded the streets of Singapore on 7 August to collect donations from members of the public island-wide. With the theme Ex Animo, Latin for giving from the heart, the campaign seeks to inculcate a sense of altruism in the University's students by gathering public donations. The funds will benefit 20 charitable organisations under the Community Chest.

The NUS Flag Day is part of the annual Rag and Flag campaign organised by the NUS Students' Union, in collaboration with the University's Halls of Residence and Faculty Clubs. The event brings together students, staff and alumni to mark the spirit of giving.
