Distinguished alumni honoured at Faculty of Science's 80th anniversary celebration

27 Oct 2009

At the 80th anniversary dinner of the Faculty of Science (FoS) on 24 October 2009, 17 distinguished alumni were honoured for their careers and contributions to society and for bringing prestige and pride to NUS. Presenting the awards was Guest-of-Honour Chairman of the National Research Foundation Dr Tony Tan, who is also an alumnus of the faculty.

The anniversary dinner marked the end of FoS' year-long celebration. Exhibitions, lectures, workshops and open house events were held to showcase the faculty's achievements and success, as well as to raise awareness of FoS as an institution of higher learning and research. The events also served to foster closer ties between faculty members, students, alumni and corporate partners and promote the study of Science as an interesting discipline.

Since 1929, the Faculty had grown to become one of the largest faculties at NUS with more than 4,500 undergraduates, 1,300 graduates, 500 academic faculty and 400 administrative, technical and support staff.
