Malaysian university studies NUS' education models

Warm exchange between NUS and University of Malaysia Perlis

His Royal Highness Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, Raja Muda (Crown Prince) of the state of Perlis, Malaysia and Chancellor of the University of Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), called on NUS on 12 December. His delegation comprised key university members such as The Honourable Dato' Prof Emeritus Ir Dr Zainai Mohamed, Chairman of UniMAP Board of Director, and The Honourable Brigadier General Dato' Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin, Vice-Chancellor.

The visitors met with NUS' senior administrators including Professor Barry Halliwell, NUS Deputy President (Research & Technology); Dr Andre Wan, Research Director at the NUS Office of the Deputy President (Research & Technology); Associate Professor Anne Pakir of the NUS International Relations Office; and Mr Koh Chin Yee, Director (Asia) at the NUS Office of the Vice President (University and Global Relations).

NUS representatives shared with their Malaysian counterparts about the University's vibrant research culture conducted by its 23 university-level research institutes or centres, and the Research Centres of Excellence.

During an interactive Question and Answer session, UniMAP administrators learnt more about NUS' new models of education such as the liberal arts education and residential college living, global programmes available to students, as well as excellence in teaching and research.
