Following the win of the President's Design Award 2012 for his unique Spotted Nyonya porcelain vessels, NUS design instructor Mr Hans Tan has again been acknowledged for his creative body of work. He received the Perspective's 40 Under 40 Recognition 2013 for the field of Product Design recently.

The annual Perspective Awards for architecture, interiors and product design is organised by Perspective, a bilingual monthly magazine in English and Chinese focusing on contemporary designs around the world.

The Perspective's 40 Under 40 young talent recognition celebrates up-and-coming talents from different design fields - product design, architecture, interiors, graphic/new media, fashion/accessories and art - whose works provoke discussion and shape design in the Asia-Pacific region. The candidates are nominated by Perspective's database of architects, interior designers, product designers, industry players, editors and other readers.

Mr Tan's remarkable repertoire of handicraft, as well as significant industry recognition and awards garnered - especially for his Spotted Nonya project - impressed the judges so much that they included him in this year's list of winners. They also applauded the next generation of independent designers who challenge the status quo with their inspiring creations.
