NUS QUALITY SERVICE SUPERSTARS BRING OUT MESSAGE OF EXCELLENCE

The NUS Quality Service Day, as part of the University's Centennial celebrations, has gone “glam” with a new category, NUS Quality Service Superstars. At the event (5 Jan) held at University Cultural Centre, audience voted for their Superstar out of three finalists who had pitched their artistic talents to bring out the message on the importance of service and quality excellence. The finalists were Computer Centre's Gallery Walk through a World of Ideas; Department of English Language and Literature's Reach for Quality, Reach for Productivity; and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences' TEAMing with Ingredients: The Angklung Story. The team from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences emerged Superstar.

SERVICE SUPERSTAR: The team from Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences demonstrating the importance of teamwork and the skill of managing a team through a skit called The Angklung Story.

Associate Professor Tan Kay Chuan, Acting Director, Office of Quality Management said at the award ceremony that the implementation of suggestions and projects from staff submitted from Oct 2004 to Sept 2005, have saved more than a quarter million dollars through productivity improvement and waste cutting.

Mr Chok Kho Kheng, NUS Centre For the Arts: To have a better control with visible, integrated and centralised air-conditioning control system; School of Computing (Dean's Office): Merging multiple pdf files into one file for free; School of Computing (Dean's Office): NETS/CashCard transactions for general purpose

Outstanding Voice Participation Award
(for departments with 25 staff or less)
