Tuition Fees for Undergraduate Courses for AY 2006/2007

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is committed to provide a quality education for all its students while ensuring affordability. Despite increased cost-pressures associated with teaching and related activities, the University had maintained its undergraduate tuition fees for 4 years from AY 2001/2002 to AY 2004/2005, and made a 5% upward adjustment in fees in AY 2005/2006.

To help defray the continuing increase in costs, tuition fees for undergraduate courses at the University will be raised by 3% for all undergraduate courses. These adjustments to the tuition fees will take effect from August 2006. The table below shows the details.

NUS will ensure that no student admitted to the university is denied the opportunity of a university education because of financial difficulties. Needy students can apply for a wide range of financial assistance schemes such as tuition fee loans, study loans, bursaries, and work-study assistance (see Annex).

The University will continue to provide the necessary funding and also actively raise further funds for the various financial assistance schemes. For AY 2006/2007, NUS will be setting aside a further $3m for student financial aid including bursaries from its own budget and from donations. We will ensure that needy students obtain the necessary financial assistance to see through their education here in NUS.

NUS remains committed to providing all its students an affordable and internationally recognised education that will give them the competitive edge needed to succeed in the globalised world.
