uNivUS: The mobile gateway to a more vibrant student experience

Since its launch in April 2020, the uNivUS app has evolved from its key role in managing the Covid-19 situation into a one-stop platform for a wide array of NUS services. Besides gathering essential NUS systems and services under the ‘Explore’ section of the app, uNivUS has also introduced new capabilities aimed at enhancing the overall student experience.

When asked what motivates the development of new features for the app, Chief Information Technology Officer at NUS, Ms Tan Shui-Min explains, “We will continue to innovate so that uNivUS remains the choice app that students use for managing university life. In line with our goals of contributing towards a more vibrant and connected campus, users can look forward in the coming year to connect via new social and practical functions built into the super app.”

First, the new Contact Card and Business Card function added to the eCard feature will enable our students and staff respectively to share their LinkedIn profile via a QR code. This will help both students and staff to easily connect with their peers and potential employers.

Finally, an exciting new feature coming up is the Marketplace, where students can buy, sell and exchange school-related items and essentials, from textbooks to sports equipment. Being an NUS app, students can connect easily with potential buyers within campus and are able to authenticate their identities leading to more secure transactions. The Marketplace also facilitates sustainable practices such as reusing and thrifting items by increasing the convenience of transacting on campus.

With these features, students can journey with uNivUS to make the most of their student experience at NUS. Even upon graduation, their lifelong emails allow them to access uNivUS, with customised experiences and services tailored for alumni to stay connected to NUS. Going forward, uNivUS will continue to build on features which support collaboration and community-building such as crowdsourcing in Maps and the Marketplace, in order to create a better campus experience for the NUS community.
